Lenovo ThinkPad L460 - Review

Lenovo ThinkPad L460

The laptop case is made entirely of plastic, and its design is square, to the liking of many people.

The system does not have a DVD drive, reducing weight. Overall, the quality of the construction is a satisfying, but not perfect, because the finishes are not excellent, and its rigidity could have been improved. The hinges resist the right resistance, and the laptop can easily open with one hand. The laptop weighs just under 2kg and its original charger nearly 300 grams.

Connectivity

Port selection is acceptable, and a pleasant surprise is that all USB ports have the 3.0 standard. On the left are the power plug, a USB 3.0 port and an audio jack, while the right side fits a SIM card slot, two other USB ports, a mini DisplayPort, a Gigabit Ethernet port for wired internet, a VGA video output and a Kensington lock slot. There is also the card reader, which is located in the front of the system and is easily accessible.

The wireless module is dual band and supports the 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac standards, besides integrating the Bluetooth 4.2 version. The card reader has regular performance, reaching transfer speeds of approximately 70 MB / s. It also includes a fingerprint sensor for fast and secure use in Windows.

Solid keyboard, decent clickpad and precise trackpoint

The keyboard buttons are concave and their race is medium. Feedback offered when pressed is satisfactory, so most users, including those who plan to write a lot using this laptop, will be pleased. The keyboard is well built and integrated into the casing without flexing when the user is typing.

The Clickpad is large enough, so multi-touch gestures can be easily done. The touchpad's smooth surface allows for easy finger dragging, and integrated mouse button feedback is an optimal one. Besides this clickpad, the laptop also includes a red trackpoint. This is conveniently located at the bottom of the keyboard between the G, H, and B keys. The buttons above the clickpad are intended for use with this trackpoint, but you can use them as you wish. The TrackPoint offers very precise navigation and its use may be more convenient, as it is not necessary to take your hand over the keyboard.
Lenovo ThinkPad L460 14" FHD High Performance Business laptop, Intel Core i5-6300u 2.4 Ghz, 512GB SSD, 8 GB RAM, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth, Mini DisplayPort/VGA, USB 3.0, Fingerprint Reader, Win 7 Pro Lenovo ThinkPad L460 14" FHD High Performance Business laptop, Intel Core i5-6300u 2.4 Ghz, 512GB SSD, 8 GB RAM, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth, Mini DisplayPort/VGA, USB 3.0

Quality of the display

The 14-inch screen is matte and its native resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels. Its contrast is very good, but the brightness of only ~ 220 cd / m² is lower than it should be.

Unfortunately, color reproduction is not a great one, so you will not be able to use this device for professional photo editing. The viewing angles are very good, specific to a panel of this type. Although the brightness is low, the high contrast and matte finish of this display allows the laptop to be used outdoors.

Satisfactory performance, efficient cooling system

The Lenovo ThinkPad L460 is equipped with a dual core processor that has high energy efficiency. It is part of the Skylake generation, has a base frequency of 2.5 GHz, and both cores can reach 3 GHz when needed, thanks to Turbo Boost technology.

Besides the processor, a fast SSD ensures system performance. The SSD is manufactured by Toshiba and has a capacity of 256 GB, being enough for those who do not want to store a lot of data. Users who need more space can add an SSD. The performance of the SSD installed is very good, so the sequential read speed can reach ~ 500 MB / s, while writing in the same way can be done with over 400 MB / s.

The dedicated video card is made by AMD, Radeon R5 M330, and is entry-level. It supports DirectX 12 and features 2GB of DDR3 video memory. The system is able to switch between using this dedicated board and integrated graphics processor for improved power efficiency to improve battery life.

Although the dedicated video card is not suitable for gaming, it can run some older games or have poor graphics. Games like Tomb Raider can run at minimum image quality settings, but titles like The Witcher 3 can not be played regardless of settings.

The noise produced by the fan is not out of the ordinary. When your laptop is idle, it is usually turned off, and in normal or intensive use it does not emit an unusually strong noise.

The cooling system is quite efficient, although significant temperatures may occur at the center of the base, but only in intensive applications. Therefore, this system does not heat unusually hard.

Sound quality and autonomy

The stereo speakers emit a rather faint sound, which lacks the bass. This inconvenience is, however, often encountered on business laptops. You can watch videos on YouTube or movies without any problems, but if you want to listen to music, it is recommended to connect the headphones or an external speaker.

Energy consumption is a common one, given the integrated components. With moderate use, you can expect about 6 hours of autonomy from this system. This means that you can take your device with you at work or in other places, but most often just with the charger.

Lenovo Yoga 710 - Review

The Lenovo Yoga 710 housing is made of aluminum, giving it a premium look and the required resistance.

Both the base of the convertible and its flap are rigid enough and the hinges that allow the lid to open up to 360 degrees oppose the right strength. Overall, the quality of the construction is very good, and the mass of only 1.6 kg is reduced enough to be able to accompany you wherever you go. In addition, being a 14-inch laptop, its size is compact.
2018 Lenovo Newest Yoga 710 2-in-1 15.6" FHD Touchscreen Flagship Laptop, Intel Core i5-7200U, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Aluminum Chassis, Fingerprint Reader, HDMI, Stereo Speakers, Windows 10

Limited number of connections

Being a laptop with a relatively thin profile (~ 17 mm), the port selection is limited. Its left side features an SD card reader and an audio jack, while the right side has a mini HDMI video output and two USB 3.0 ports for connecting the various peripherals. Also on this side is the power button, a welcome thing for any 2-in-1 laptop.

The Lenovo Yoga 710 does not have side volume buttons but, like many other converters, it also makes it easy to adjust the volume in tablet mode. Also, it's good to know that the SD card does not accommodate the cards completely, so sooner or later you'll need to disconnect it to avoid damaging it during transport.

The SD card reader is compatible with all popular formats, such as MMC, SD, SDHC and SDXC, with average file transfer speeds of about 80 MB / s.

The wireless module is manufactured by Intel, supports the AC standard and is dual band.

Numeric keypad, spacious touchpad

Lenovo decided to make a compromise to keep an optimum layout with well spaced and large buttons, so it did not include a numpad. They are fixed, so they do not slip during typing, their writing is legible, and the noise produced by them does not become disturbing. In addition, the keyboard is rigid, and its illumination has two levels of intensity.

The touchpad is large enough, using much of the space between the keyboard and the edge of the laptop, and is located on its left side. Its design is minimalist, with a small line separating the integrated mouse buttons. Both the push and the sound feedback are suited, and its surface allows for easy fingering of your fingers.

IPS screen with high brightness

The touch screen has narrow edges, fast response to commands, and easy dragging on the surface. It is based on IPS technology, offers Full HD resolution and has a diagonal of 14 inches. The contrast does not come out of print, but it is acceptable, and its brightness is slightly below 300 cd / m². What's more, the glossy finish of the panel allows reflections of light on its surface in brightly lit environments.

The image quality is totally satisfying and the colors are alive. The accuracy with which colors are represented is average. Viewing angles are typical for an IPS panel so the image does not appear distorted when other people view the contents of the screen.

Although the brightness is strong enough to use the laptop in the sun, the glossy finish of the screen creates reflections on the screen that prevent the user from seeing the contents clearly. It is recommended to use your laptop in a place where there is shadow.

Decent performance in running applications, except games

The Intel Core i5-6200U processor has two cores and a normal frequency of 2.3 GHz, which Turbo Boost technology can increase up to 2.7 GHz for both cores and a single core can reach up to 2.8 GHz. Moreover, this processor has a low energy consumption, thus representing an advantage in terms of autonomy.

The 8GB of RAM that comes with Lenovo Yoga 710 delivers multitasking performance. This performance is largely due to the fast SSD with which the convertible is equipped, with a capacity of 256 GB. Its sequential readout speed is ~ 500 MB / s, while in the same way writing is less than 300 MB / s. Unfortunately, there is no space for adding another storage medium, so users who want to store large files will have to replace this SSD with another one to keep application launching speed and file transfer.

The Nvidia GeForce 940MX dedicated video card is DirectX 12 compatible and features 2GB of DDR3 video memory. It's good to know that the integrated graphics processor is used instead of the video card when possible to save the battery as much as possible. Intel HD Graphics 520 also supports DirectX 12 and is capable of playing H.265 / HEVC video clips.

Considering that we are dealing with a thin profile convertible, gaming on this device is possible with great limitations. So, while games like Fifa 15 can run at maximum image quality settings fluently, titles like The Crew can only be played using low image quality settings. Rise of the Tomb Raider runs under 30 FPS, the minimum of frames considered fluent, even with very low graphics.

Cooling, audio, autonomy

The Lenovo Yoga 710 features two small fans that do not emit strong noise, but they feel their presence even when the level of resources used is small.

Temperatures can increase significantly in intense use, but not in an unusual way. The bottom of the laptop, which supports the user's wrists, maintains a comfortable temperature.

The two stereo speakers are positioned beneath the laptop so they can be easily covered when the laptop is not on a flat surface. Sound quality is decent, but like most laptops of this size, it is largely missing the bass. That's why it's a good idea to use an external audio system or headphones when you want to enjoy the best sound quality.

If you want to use this laptop for a whole day, this is only possible with moderate use. So if you watch movies or browse the internet, you can expect an autonomy of about 7 hours. The laptop battery can be fully charged in just over two and a half hours.

Asus Zenbook Flip S UX370UA - Review

Surprisingly sleek, lightweight and stylish, the Zenbook Flip S UX370UA is one of the most attractive laptops on the market. Its thickness is only ~ 11 mm and the mass of 1.1 kg is portable enough to take it with you wherever you go. Also, the original UX370UA charger weighs only ~ 190 grams. The exterior of the laptop is entirely metallic, enhancing its premium device image, being enjoyable to the touch. Royal Blue color fits perfectly with the golden accents present. Also, the keyboard brightness is yellow.
Asus Zenbook Flip UX461U 14" Full HD Touch 2-in-1 Laptop: Core i7-8550U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, , Backlit Keyboard, Fingerprint Reader, Windows 10

Being a convertible, the hinge is very important. This is of good quality, so it's easy to turn your device into a tablet. Of course, in tablet mode, its mass makes its presence felt seriously, so it's not as comfortable as a regular tablet. As with many other 2 in 1 laptops, the power button has to be positioned on the side, so sometimes you have to look for it a bit with your hand to hit it. Another small inconvenience is that it can be accidentally clicked when you move your laptop.

Next to the power button are the two volume control buttons, also integrated as a result of tablet mode, including a fingerprint reader that works properly regardless of whether the laptop is commonly used or as a tablet.

Limited connectivity

Port selection is limited, a predictable thing given the compact size of this system. On both sides there is a USB Type-C port, and there's also a headphone jack. Since the device is charging via USB-C, you will only have a free port when using the charger. Included in the box is an adapter that offers a USB port, an HDMI output and another USB Type-C port. An SD card reader is not integrated, but it is not vital for many users.

Comfortable keyboard and touchpad quality

The keyboard has a well-organized and spacious layout, with no strangely or undersized buttons, as you can see on many laptops. In addition, the brightness of the yellow keyboard is slightly more comfortable for the eye than the white, classic. The feedback provided by the keys is excellent, making it very good for any type of user.

The trackpad is large in size, so you can navigate across the screen without lifting your finger on it. Its aluminum surface is fine and navigation with its help is accurate. As with the keyboard, the feedback offered is a good one.
ASUS ZenBook Flip S Touchscreen Convertible Laptop, 13.3in Full HD, 8th Gen Intel Core i7 Processor, 16GB DDR3, 512GB SSD Windows 10 Pro - UX370UA-XH74T-BL, Royal Blue (Renewed) ASUS ZenBook Flip S Touchscreen Convertible Laptop, 13.3in Full HD, 8th Gen Intel Core i7 Processor, 16GB DDR3, 512GB SSD Windows 10 Pro - UX370UA-XH74T-BL, Royal Blue (Renewed)

IPS screen and medium quality sound

The full-HD IPS screen offers good viewing angles and high color fidelity. However, even if its resolution is suitable for a laptop, in pixel mode, the pixels may turn out a little when you hold the device close to the eye.

As far as speakers are concerned, they are suitable for any type of content, but if you listen to music for long periods of time, you will probably need an external speaker or headphones. Volume and bass are not very strong, but the sound is clear and rich in detail.

Performance: High and fast SSD

The 512 GB SSD is fast and spacious enough for most users, recording transfer speeds of ~ 480 MB / s for reading ~ 360 MB / s when writing.

The Intel Core i7-7500U processor is dual-core powerful enough for multitasking and more advanced programs, but it should not be forgotten that the processing power is not the mainstay of this laptop. The integrated graphics processor is capable of running some older games that have a simple graphics, but it is not strong enough for those who want to play many popular titles.

The cooling system does not produce much noise, with the integrated fan making it feel more present when using the laptop intensively.

One of the disadvantages of such compact laptops is the low battery, autonomy being the main inconvenience of this model. Thus, the battery life is about 5 hours under moderate usage conditions.

Asus ROG Strix GL703VD - Review

The laptop cover has a special texture, and the logo on its side has red illumination when the system is turned on. Unfortunately, the lid attracts fingerprints like a magnet. Its inner side has fairly thin edges, matt finish, with a logo at the bottom. Overall, the design of this laptop is more successful and more simplistic than other gaming models. The Asus ROG Strix GL703VD weighs just under 3kg and its charger is around 500 grams.
ASUS ROG STRIX Gaming Laptop, 15.6” IPS-Type Full HD, Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor, GeForce GTX 1050 4GB, 16GB DDR4, 1TB FireCuda SSHD, RGB, Windows 10 Home - GL503VD-DB71

Design and connections

The construction is strong enough despite its thin profile, and the hinges resist the proper strength. Also, opening with one hand is possible.

Connectivity is as expected, and the ports are well positioned, so right-handed users are often not likely to be tangled when they use a mouse. So on the right are the SD card reader, a USB 3.1 Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, and on the left are LAN, mini DisplayPort, HDMI and two other USB 3.0 ports.

The SD card reader offers average transfer speeds of approximately 70 MB / s. The wireless module offers good internet connection speeds, but not impressive, up to ~ 650 Mb / s.
 ASUS ROG STRIX GL703VD 17" Gaming Laptop, GTX 1050 4GB, Intel Core i7 2.8 GHz, 16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, RGB Keys

Touchpad and keyboard

RGB Aura keyboard provides custom RGB lighting (3 levels of brightness and full deactivation), allowing the user to set colors and desired visual effects by area (4 zones are delimited). Having a 2 mm race, slightly above the average of most laptops. The feedback of the buttons is not a great one, but they are quite silent, with the exception of the Space key.

The touchpad has the right dimensions, functioning flawlessly, both in terms of navigation gestures and multi-touch gestures. Its surface is fine, and feedback on clicks is good. Most users will probably want to use a mouse, given that the laptop is a gaming one.

Matte screen

The 17.3-inch IPS screen has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a matt finish to avoid light reflections. With a bright average brightness of about 400 cd / m², and a 1000: 1 contrast, this system impresses pleasantly. Even if it's not recommended for professional photographers, the screen delivers a fair color fidelity. Thanks to its high brightness and matte finish, readability in the open is surprisingly good, except when the laptop is in direct sunlight. Viewing angles are great, so you can watch a movie with your friends with no problems.

Decent performance in games

The Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor has a nominal frequency of 2.8 GHz, but with Turbo Boost technology, it can get 3.8 GHz for a single core and 3.6 GHz for all 4 cores.

The GeForce GTX 1050 video card is one of the most common entry-level gaming laptops. Thus, although there are much more performance cards than this, the GTX 1050 can run many games, especially the oldest, with high quality settings. For example, Thief runs at 1080p resolution and Ultra mode with over 40 FPS, while Rise of the Tomb Raider reaches 35 FPS with the same settings.

The laptop features Optimus technology, which means it can use the integrated video card when possible to reduce power consumption.

Cooling, sound and autonomy

This device is one of the thinnest 17 inches but also one of the loudest. In case of low resource use, the fans barely feel their presence, but when the laptop is used intensively, the coolers can exceed 50 dB.

The speakers leave quite a lot of desires. Although the sound is totally clear, rich in detail and features bass, it is not very strong, and distortion can occur at maximum volume.

With moderate use, battery life can last about 7 hours, and during very intense use, the battery life reaches up to ~ 1 hour and a half.

Dell Latitude 14 E7470 - Review

Even if it does not impress on portability, the Dell Latitude 14 E7470 is particularly well built. Also, its hinges are firm enough, so you can use the touchscreen of your laptop without moving the flap. The edges of the screen are narrow enough. The weight of ~ 1.7 kg and the thickness of ~ 19 mm allow you to take your device with you anywhere you go, although it is not among the lightest laptops.

Dell Latitude 14 7000 Series E7470 Ultrabook, 14.0inch HD Anti-Glare LCD, Intel Core i7-6600U, 8 GB DDR4, 256 GB SSD, Windows 10 Pro (Renewed)

Connections

Connectivity options are sufficient. On the left is a SmartCard reader, and on the opposite side you will find the audio jack, an SD card reader, a USB 3.0 port and the SIM slot. Behind the device are conveniently integrated the Ethernet port, an HDMI output, a DisplayPort and two other USB 3.0 ports. The power plug is also in the rear. The transfer speeds of the SD card reader are well above average, reaching up to ~ 200 MB / s. With regard to Internet connection, this can be done via the Gigabit Ethernet port or the dual-band wireless module that also supports the AC standard.

Keyboard, touchpad and trackpoint

If you are used to typing a lot on your laptop, you will need one with a very good keyboard. The integrated feature on the Latitude 14 E7470 is very solid and comfortable. Although the key stroke is not an ideal one, the feedback offered at the push of the buttons is appropriate. In addition, the keyboard offers 2 levels of illumination. It does not include a number, given the small size of the device, but it is not necessary for many users.

The dimensions of the touchpad are decent, considering the size of the laptop, and allow multi-touch gestures with up to 4 fingers. Sliding on its smooth surface is easy, allowing accurate navigation. It features dedicated mouse buttons that provide very good push-to-play feedback.

Besides the touchpad, the user also has a trackpoint. This may require an adjustment period, but it offers the advantage of controlling the cursor without having to grab your hand on the keyboard. It also has 3 dedicated buttons on top of the touchpad.
Dell Latitude E7470 14in Laptop, Core i5-6300U 2.4GHz, 8GB Ram, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 Pro 64bit (Renewed)

Screen

The 14-inch touchscreen supports the 2560x1440 pixel resolution and uses IPS technology. Its brightness is very strong, ~ 350 cd / m², and the contrast is also excellent. The resulting colors are so vivid and the images are very detailed. Maximum brightness is not reduced when the charger is not connected. The accuracy with which the colors are reproduced is thankful. As far as the viewing angles are concerned, they are very good, allowing you to view the content from any angle.

Hardware

The Intel Core i7-6600U processor has a basic frequency of 2.6 GHz, two cores, and last but not least, low power consumption to maximize autonomy. It is based on the Skylake architecture and is accompanied by a Samsung SSD of 256 GB. Its performance is not out of the ordinary, but the transfer speeds are very good for most users. Sequential reading is about 500MB / s, while writing in the same way is slower, ~ 300MB / s. However, the operating system and installed applications are launching fast. 8 GB of DDR4-type RAM, delivering notable performance in multitasking and various complex applications.

The integrated video card is Intel HD Graphics 520 and supports DirectX version 12, being able to play smoothly the H.265 video format.

Lenovo ThinkPad 13 - Review

The compact dimensions of this laptop and its low weight of 1.4 kg make it suitable for you to accompany you anywhere. Its housing is made entirely of plastic but so the stability suffers in this case. The hinges are not metallic, and the resistance they resist is smaller than they should, so the screen can close itself at very small opening angles (~ 15 degrees or lower).

2018 Lenovo ThinkPad 13 13.3" HD Business Laptop Computer, Intel Core i5-6200U up to 2.80GHz, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, USB Type-C, HDMI, 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, Windows 7

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, Lenovo ThinkPad 13 delivers all the important connections. The ports are sufficiently distant to each other, not to lock one another. On the right side you will find an SD card reader (closest to the front to be easily accessible), a 3.5 mm audio jack, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI video output and a USB Type-C port . The opposite side includes a OneLink + dock connector and another USB 3.0 port.

Lenovo has not equipped this model with an Ethernet port, so you can only connect to the internet using the wireless module. It is compatible with all popular WiFi standards, including AC, and the integrated Bluetooth version is 4.2. Being a fairly popular module among more expensive models, performance is up to speed, with Internet connection speeds up to ~ 60 MB / s. So regular users do not have to worry about the speed of the connection. A Gigabit Ethernet port would have been welcome, however, for situations where there is a need to transfer a large number of files in the shortest possible time.

Keyboard, touchpad, trackpoint

The keyboard of this ThinkPad is, as usual, a very good one. The button stroke is large enough and the very good feedback improves the comfort it is used with. When pressed, the keys do not emit significant noise except the Space key. Unfortunately, this keyboard is not illuminated, so it can become more difficult to type in poorly lit environments.

Touchpad buttons are integrated into the bottom of the touchpad, but they are pretty noisy. But it works flawlessly, and its surface is very smooth, so it flips its fingers easily.

2019 Lenovo ThinkPad X260 12.5" IPS Anti-Glare HD Business Laptop (Intel Dual Core i5-6200U, 16GB DDR4 Memory, 256GB SSD) WiFi AC, Bluetooth, Fingerprint, Backlit, Ethernet, Windows 10

In addition to this, a trackpoint is also integrated, positioned at the bottom of the keyboard, which gives you the same precision navigation. Its advantage is that it is no longer necessary to take your hand off the keyboard whenever you want to use the cursor. Users who have not used a trackpoint before will probably need a little time to accommodate. Unlike the clickpad, it has dedicated buttons. They produce very low click noise and are well integrated.

Display

The IPS screen has Full HD resolution and its brightness slightly above 220 cd / m² is typical. On the other hand, the contrast offered by this panel is very good. Unfortunately, the accuracy with which colors are represented leaves it desirable. Therefore, the laptop can not be used for professional photo editing. The good part is that the brightness is not reduced when the laptop is powered by the battery and the panel finish is matte. Unfortunately, the brightness is not strong enough to use the device in the sunlight, so legibility is only thankful to the shadow.

Performance

The Intel Core i5-6200U processor is a high energy efficiency model, often found on laptops. It has two cores, which can reach a maximum frequency of 2.7 GHz when needed. The good news is that CPU performance is not reduced when the charger is disconnected.

Lenovo ThinkPad 13 has a 256GB Samsung SSD as a storage unit. Its performance is more than decent, especially for sequential reading speeds of over 450 MB / s. Sequential writing is done at a slightly lower speed of about 300 MB / s. The operating system is started quickly, as are the applications installed by the user.

The integrated video card is Intel HD Graphics 520, which is powerful enough for everyday and multimedia activities, but not for very advanced applications. It's good to know that its performance can be improved to some extent by adding a second memory module. Like the processor, the integrated video card maintains performance even when the charger is disconnected.

The 8 GB DDR4 RAM provides a satisfactory multitasking performance and complex applications, with only 1 slot in the 2 system being occupied. RAM can be upgraded to 32 GB.
Lenovo Business Ultrabook ThinkPad 13 13.3" Intel CELERON 3855U (1.60GHZ, 2MB) 13.3 HD, 4G. 128G SSD Windows 10 PRO

The cooler is generally disabled when the laptop is in idle mode but also when the use of resources is insignificant. Even at the intense application of the components, the cooler does not emit a disturbing noise. The cooling system is not out of the way efficient, so temperatures can increase significantly, especially in the center of the laptop, when the resources of the laptop are used in a very high proportion.

The speakers emit medium sound as power and quality, so when you want improved audio quality, it is recommended to connect an external audio system. It can connect via Bluetooth, HDMI or 3.5 mm jack.

Battery life

The 3-cell battery has a capacity of 42 Wh, and the power consumption of the system is quite low. Therefore, with moderate use, you can expect a battery life of about 6 hours. However, in the case of maximum capacity, the laptop can be downloaded in just 2 hours. The charge time of the battery is ~ 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Lenovo ThinkPad E470 - Review

Although it is a business laptop, it is not one of the most portable devices of its kind, weighing around 1.9kg and having a thickness of ~ 24mm.

However, the overall construction quality is a very good one. The finishes are excellently made, offering a premium appearance to the laptop, and the strength of the case is more than decent. The hinge works optimally and the flap can be opened up to 180 degrees.
Lenovo 14" ThinkPad E470 16:9 Notebook Intel Core i5 (7th Gen) i5-7200U Dual-core (2 Core) 2.5GHz 8GB DDR4 SDRAM 256GB SSD Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Model 20H1004SUS

Ports available

Connectivity encompasses all ports that are essential to most users, but the DisplayPort interface is missing. The slots are optimally arranged for right-hand users, most cable connections being located on the left side. Thus, the left side houses the power jack, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a HDMI 1.4 video output and a USB 3.0 port, while the other side includes an SD / MMC card reader, an audio jack for connecting the headphones, two USB ports one 2.0, the other 3.0) and a Kensington lock slot.

The card reader has average transfer speeds of ~ 75 MB / s. The included wireless module supports all popular WiFi standards, including AC, and internet connection speeds are very good, around 600 Mbps.

Keyboard and touchpad

The very good keyboard quality is a feature of most of the ThinkPad series laptops, and the E470 is among these models. The keystroke feedback is very good, so the keyboard is easy to use and convenient. Its foundation is solid, so you will not get any problems, no matter if you are writing slower or faster. The sound produced by pressing the buttons is not disturbing. Unfortunately, the keyboard is not illuminated, so its use in poorly illuminated environments can become difficult.

The touchpad has integrated buttons that work best and its dimensions are satisfying. In addition, it supports multi-touch gestures with up to 4 fingers. Besides this, there is also a red trackpoint. This makes it easy to navigate with precision without having to grab your hand on the keyboard. The buttons above the touchpad are associated with the trackpoint, and pressing them is easy.

Screen quality

The screen has Full HD resolution and is of the IPS type. The 14-inch diagonal along with this resolution ensures a sufficient pixel density. The brightness of ~ 230 cd / m² is sufficient for indoor use, but it can become a disadvantage in the open air. Contrast is decent, so the image is good. The accuracy of color rendering is low, so you will not be able to use this professional photo editing system.

The anti-glare finish of the panel allows the laptop to be used outdoors, in the shade or in the sky, but in bright sunshine the legibility decreases dramatically, especially due to low brightness. IPS technology allows users to view the content from almost all angles, so watching a movie with friends will not be uncomfortable.

Performance

The Lenovo ThinkPad E470 is powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5-7200U processor. Its basic frequency is 2.5 GHz, but with Turbo Boost it can reach up to 3.1 GHz.

The SSD from SanDisk integrated manufacturer has a capacity of 256 GB and its performance is excellent. Data reading is about 500 MB / s, while writing is done with ~ 400 MB / s, both sequentially. To enable multitasking and running advanced applications, the system is equipped with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, with only 1 of its two slots being occupied. As a result, the laptop reacts quickly to commands in everyday life, the operating system starts quickly, and applications are released shortly.

The Nvidia GeForce 940MX dedicated video card is not ideal for games, but delivers decent performance in complex applications and games that do not have the top graphics. For example, Battlefield 4 can run on average image quality and low resolution, fluently. Under normal conditions of use or when idle, the cooling system does not produce noise. In case of intense use, the noise produced becomes noticeable, but not disturbing.

Temperatures can be elevated when the laptop is used intensively, such as in games or advanced applications. Therefore, it is recommended not to hold the device on your knees in such use scenarios. It is worth mentioning that high temperatures tend to form at the back of the laptop base so that the palmrest remains comfortable.

Sound and autonomy

The speakers emit a surprisingly powerful sound, but the audio quality is not out of the ordinary. So if you want to talk to Skype or watch a vlog, you do not have to worry about the quality of the sound, but for music playback it is recommended to connect an audio system.

The Lenovo ThinkPad E470 has low power consumption, especially when idle. However, autonomy is not a great one. Navigating the internet, you can expect a battery life of about 5 hours. So you will need the charger if you want to make sure you can use this laptop all day long. Load time is fast, less than 2 hours.

ASUS FX502VM-FY293 - Review

ASUS FX502VM 15.6" Gaming Laptop NVIDIA 1060 3GB, Intel Core i5-6300HQ 16GB DDR4 1TB HDD

The FX502VM is one of those laptops that delivers decent performance at a low price, but not without sacrifices.

For a gaming laptop, this one is quite portable, weighing 2.24kg and a thickness of only 23.5mm. The housing is made of a combination of plastic and aluminum. The edges of the screen are quite large and the hinges are solid, and it is possible to open the laptop with one hand.

Connectivity

In the connectivity chapter, a regular user will not have to complain. The device has an HDMI output, 3 USB 3.0 ports, an audio output and a LAN port. There is also an SD / MMC card reader, and the network card supports up to 1000 Mbps. The 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless modules are comparable to other gaming systems. It does not include an optical drive, but most users do not need it anymore.

Keyboard and touchpad

The keyboard is illuminated red LED, WASD buttons are highlighted, but there are no buttons for media control. The keys provide a good feedback, so it will not take long before you get used to them. However, their race is a bit short. The touchpad has a solid construction, and the buttons respond very well to commands, but navigation is not as precise as other similar models.

Screen and sound

The screen is matte, with Full HD resolution and 15.6 inch diagonal. The maximum brightness of the panel is slightly above average, the color temperature is close to the natural one, but the contrast is low and the viewing angles are narrow. The sound emitted by the integrated stereo speakers is clear without distortion.

Autonomy

At the battery head, the laptop has a slightly lower bandwidth than its average of about 4 hours under moderate usage.

Performance

RAM is a typical, 8GB DDR4 type, so in multitasking and most games you will not get any problems. The Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, from the Kaby Lake generation, has a normal 2.8 GHz frequency, but with Turbo Boost technology, it can go up to 3.8 GHz. It makes a good team with the dedicated video card, the GeForce GTX 1060, with 3 GB of video memory. This configuration is enough to run games like CS: GO or GTA V, but for more demanding games, such as Tom Clancy's The Division, you need to lower the image quality to medium.

Even in terms of temperatures, things are not great. During gaming sessions, the top of the keypad heats up significantly, but the palm rest remains cold enough.

To conclude, if you want a portable gaming laptop with decent performance, and high temperatures and a weak screen do not discourage you, this model may be one of the options. It's a good idea to connect it to an external monitor if you use it more at home, for games or watching movies.

ASUS E203NA-FD025TS - Review

When it comes to cheap laptops and modern design, the ASUS E203NA-FD025TS is one of the most affordable, and for this reason has some drawbacks, besides some of its strengths.
ASUS VivoBook E203NA-YS03 11.6” Featherweight Design Laptop, Intel Dual-Core Celeron N3350 2.4GHz Processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 64GB EMMC Storage, App Based Windows 10 S

Design

There is no doubt that design is one of those strengths. The colors are perfectly combined and the finishes are very well done. The laptop's thickness is ~ 17 mm and its weight is just under 1 kg. However, it is more robust than many laptops in its range. One reason for the thin profile is the processor, which does not require a cooler. Thus, among the advantages is also the lack of cooling system noise and cooler grills.

The choice of ports is as decent as one, including 1 HDMI port, 2 USB 3.0 ports and one audio output. The classic microSD card reader is present, but also WiFi (802.11 ac) and Bluetooth modules (version 4.1).

Keyboard, trackpad and webcam

The keyboard of this device is comfortable enough, especially given its size. The trackpad offers accurate navigation and is quite spacious, but its surface is not a praiseworthy one.
The WEB camera also suffered to reduce the final acquisition costs, with a resolution of only 640 x 480 pixels.

Sound and screen

The lack of bass sound is not disturbing to small volumes as large volumes. The speakers are ok to watch a vowel on youtube, otherwise typical for this price category, but they do not seem right for watching movies and playing music.

Considering the diagonal of 11.6 inches, the resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels is in this case an ideal one. The image quality is proportional to the low cost, but even if it is not very bad, the vertical viewing angles are very small.

ASUS VivoBook E203NA Ultra-Thin and Light Laptop, Intel Celeron N3350 Processor, 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB eMMC Storage + pre-installed 32GB SD Card, 11.6” HD Display, Windows 10, USB

Performances

The 4 GB DDR3 RAM and the two-core Intel Celeron N3350 processor (1100 MHz and 2400 MHz through Turbo Boost) offer quite low performance. So it's good to treat this laptop as if you were treating a tablet, opening up just one application.
Storage capacity is 32 GB, but the operating system occupies the most, so the user only has about 8 GB left for personal use.

Besides design, the second trump card represents the battery life. Laptop autonomy is up to 9 hours.

So if what you are looking for is a very inexpensive device with attractive design and suitable for very simple activities, this is a decent option. Even if its performance is low, its strengths such as portability and long battery life make it helpful in many situations. It is not, however, suitable for those who are armed with less patience or who are accustomed to performing devices, whether laptops or smartphones.

ASUS ROG GL753VD-GC009 - Review

The design of this laptop is very similar to that of other Strix gaming models, with bright orange accents and a solid structure. The lower part is made of plastic, while the screen cover is made of aluminum.
ASUS ROG Strix GL753VD 17.3" Gaming Laptop GTX 1050 4GB Intel Core i7-7700HQ 16GB DDR4 1TB 7200RPM HDD RGB Keyboard

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, you will find the most important ports. On the left are LAN, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, 2 USB 3.0 ports, and a Type-C jack. Next to this, the front port on the front is the headphone jack. The SD, SDXC, MMC card reader is located at the front, but is hard to notice due to the shape of the device.
The Wifi 802.11 ac module is a highly performing one, managing to reach speeds of up to 666 Mbps. The Bluetooth version is the standard 4.1.

Keyboard and touchpad

The keyboard has buttons with a decent stroke, which provides very good typing feedback and is not particularly noisy. The steering keys are large enough and stand out, just like the Space.Touchpad key has a surface that you can drag with your fingers, and clicks are made as comfortable.

Screen and sound

The matte IPS screen has Full HD resolution and is bright and color accuracy is acceptable. The 17.3 inch diagonal makes it suitable for both games and any other activities. Viewing angles are great, so many people can watch the action on screen without any problems.
The stereo speakers offer great sound, whether you play, watch movies or listen to your favorite music. The maximum volume is about 80 dB, successfully filling a smaller room, but is not suitable for parties.

Performance

The Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, from the Kaby Lake generation, has 4 cores and can reach a frequency of up to 3.8 GHz. It comes with a nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 video card with 4 GB of video memory. As expected, most games of the past years, such as World of Warships, Fallout 4 and Farming Simulator 17, can run at high quality and resolution. RAM is standard for an 8GB (DDR4) class laptop. The good news is that in the future, if you feel the need, you can add more memories to the second remaining RAM slot.

As far as storage is concerned, the laptop has a 1TB hard drive at a speed of 7,200 revolutions per minute, typical of most laptops as space, but enough for most users, even for a large part of gamers.

ASUS ROG STRIX GL753VD-DS71 Select Edition (i7-7700HQ, 16GB RAM, 128GB SATA SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB, 17.3" Full HD, Windows 10) Gaming Notebook Leather Bound

Cooling system

The cooler of the system does not produce much noise, but the speed fluctuates even when it comes to running office applications, making it easier to notice. When running games that consume a lot of resources, it is possible that the noise reached by the cooling system will reach up to ~ 47 dB.

Temperatures are surprisingly low both indoors and outdoors. Generally, the surfaces you come into contact with will only have temperatures slightly higher than room temperature. However, when running resource-intensive programs or games, you will notice that the laptop will warm up, but not in a disturbing way.

Battery

Most gaming laptops can not boast of increased autonomy. For moderate use, such as surfing the Internet, you can expect a battery life of about 4 hours. It is good to note that the processor is not used to the maximum capacity when the laptop is not plugged in.

ASUS S406UA-BM029T - REVIEW

Asus managed to create a 14-inch screen laptop with the typical 13.3 inch size. Not only that its size is low, but also the weight is very low - just 1.2 kg. This way, this model can go with you wherever you go with a minimum of effort. The inside of the laptop is made of plastic, an uninspired decision, as its solidity suffers.

Ports

Regarding connectivity, we have no surprises. The ASUS S406UA-BM029T features 2 USB 3.0 ports, one audio output, one USB 2.0 port, 1 micro HDMI for video output, and 1 USB 3.1 Type C port. Also includes an SD card reader that delivers speed average transfer rate of ~ 38 MBps. The Wifi also supports the AC standard, offering very high transfer speeds.

Keyboard and touchpad

The keypad is illuminated and has rounded buttons with a fairly low and typical feedback for most users, but nothing out of the ordinary. The touchpad is spacious enough for multi-touch gestures and its surface is suited slippery. The fingerprint reader is integrated to its top left.

Screen and sound

The 14-inch screen has a typical 1366x768 pixel resolution, but the brightness (~ 210 cd / m2) and contrast is below the average price of laptops. Even the viewing angles are not great.
The stereo speakers produce surprisingly clear and powerful sound, but the maximum volume could have been higher.

Performance

Since it is a business laptop, performance is one of its strengths. The Intel Core i5-8250U (from the Kaby Lake R generation), clocked at 1.6 GHz, can reach up to 3.4 GHz via Turbo Boost. Note, however, that Turbo Boost technology is not used when the laptop has no connected charger.

Integrated video card, Intel UHD Graphics 620, supports DirectX 12 and can do good with other components when it comes to older games. For example, BioShock Infinite runs at an average of 30 frames per second at average settings. This is a system that you will use mainly for office and multimedia activities such as movie playback or browsing.

The 4 GB of RAM is enough for multitasking, but the next 8 GB would be more appropriate. The storage capacity is only 256 GB, but we are talking about a SSD that offers very high transfer speeds up to 480 MB / s for reading and 440 MB / s for writing.

Battery

As for autonomy, few are the ones who can complain. When browsing the Internet with low brightness, battery life is about 7 hours.

So if you want to buy a laptop for office / multimedia activities, and you are willing to overlook its very delicate construction and poor quality screen, you will enjoy decent performance and autonomy.

ASUS A542UR-DM189 - REVIEW

Most of the time, Asus laptops offer the best price / performance ratio, and this is the case for the front model. As for the design, this is a modern one, the finishes being of high quality, the laptop weighing 2.3 kg.

Touchpad, keyboard and connectivity

The touchpad that supports multi-touch gestures is spacious enough to respond with precision to any touch, and the keyboard is comfortable and offers positive feedback.

Existing ports are the ones that cover the needs of almost any user: HDMI, VGA, 2 x USB 3.0, audio input, USB 2.0, Ethernet port and USB 3.1 Type C. Of course, there is no missing SD card reader, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, 802.11 ac provides high speed internet connectivity.

Screen

The 15.6 inch diagonal is a standard one, being the most suitable for most users. The LED screen has Full HD resolution and anti-glare finish, the latter allowing the device to be used in bright spaces without being distracted by the reflections of the light on the display. The resolution is the maximum for this price segment, and the pictures are full of vibrant details and colors.

Performance

Intel's i5-7200U processor, built on Kaby Lake architecture, has two cores and has a nominal frequency of 2.5 GHz, but thanks to Turbo Boost technology, the frequency can reach up to 3.1 GHz when a boost is needed of performance. The integrated graphics card, Intel HD Graphics 620, delivers decent performance, being comparable to a GeForce 910M from Nvidia, but considering that the laptop has a significantly stronger dedicated chipset in resource-intensive activities such as games, you will use it.

So the dedicated video card of this laptop, GeForce 930MX, offers us 2 GB of GDDR5 memory. Even if the multimedia chapter and some of the games are doing very well, it's good to remember that the ASUS A542UR-DM189 is not a gaming system, meaning you will not be able to run the most impressive games available at the moment.

The laptop comes equipped with a new 4GB RAM of the new type, DDR4, running at the standard 2133 MHz frequency. This amount of RAM is enough for most people at this time, but for those users who want better multitasking performance, it is recommended to add another RAM. This laptop model has 2 memory slots and supports up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM.

In terms of storage capacity, few are the ones who may be dissatisfied when it comes to an affordable model, the 1TB hard drive of this laptop is suitable for keeping many movies, music files, and other types of documents. In the future, if you want to improve your performance considerably, you can replace the HDD with a solid state drive, and then mount it in place of the DVD drive to continue enjoying high storage capacity and high file speeds .

That being said, the ASUS A542UR-DM189 turns out to be an affordable laptop, easy to take anywhere with you, but also very suitable for most multimedia activities, such as browsing the internet, watching high quality movies and running unreal games, offering the possibility of significantly improving performance in the future.

ASUS ROG GL553VE-FY022 - REVIEW

The ASUS ROG GL553VE-FY022 is one of those affordable, price-performance-balanced hardware gaming laptops.

Design
The screen cover is made of well-finished aluminum, featuring the ROG logo and 2 LED illuminated stripes, while the inside is plastic. The hinges offer superior strength, and it's good to know that you can open your laptop with one hand.

A little unusual, but useful for some, is the location to the front of the side ports. You will find most of them on the left, these being: Ethernet ports, HDMI, the two USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB-C 3.1 (first generation) and a headphone jack. On the right is a USB 2.0 port, but also an optical drive. There is also the SD / MMC card reader, located on the front, with small status LEDs on top of it.

Touchpad and keyboard
The touchpad is large enough, but its buttons may seem a bit stiff. However, its surface is pleasant to touch, and gestures and other movements are accurately recorded.
The keystroke is an optimal one, 2.5 mm, so the keyboard is perfect for both games and document writing. Instead of the usual red key illumination (specific to the ROG series), illumination can now be customized, thanks to RGB LEDs that can be controlled by defining effects and areas. The arrow keys are medium in size and placed at your fingertips.

Performances
As for ASUS ROG GL553VE-FY022 storage, it boasts nothing out of the ordinary, offering a 1TB HDD at a speed of 7200 rpm. However, this is enough for most users, with the right storage capability for pretty many movies, games, or other types of documents.

This model features 2 RAM slots, one of which is packed with an 8GB DDR4 memory card running at 2400 MHz.

The laptop is equipped with the i7-7700HQ i7-7700HQ processor with 4 kernels and a 2.8 GHz nominal frequency (which can grow up to 3.8 GHz via Turbo Boost) and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti . Thus, not only in multitasking and other intensive activities, such as video editing, will work flawlessly, but in most games, not very demanding (such as Tomb Raider or Shadow of Mordor) will do great. Of course, for maximum performance, especially in games, it is recommended to connect the charger.
Another highlight of this laptop is its low outside temperatures, thanks to the use of plastic and its design, whether used for browsing or games.

Display and sound

The Full HD screen has a normal diagonal of 15.6 inches, being treated to avoid the appearance of light reflections, and with very good viewing angles. The colors are reproduced with enviable fidelity, making this screen perfect for any type of multimedia content.

The sound produced is clear and powerful enough for a regular user (it reaches about 80 decibels at full volume), although it does not stand out significantly compared to the one found on other similar laptops.

Battery

Considering that we are talking about a gaming laptop, autonomy is not the point or strength, although portability is not bad at all, weighing only 2.5 kg. So if you want to watch various videos on Youtube, for example, at 1080p quality, you can expect about 3-4 hours of autonomy. Full battery charge is done fast enough in about 2 hours.

Therefore, if you are looking for a high performance laptop with high performance games and other activities, solid construction, attractive design and lower temperatures, this is one of the most affordable models.

ASUS ROG GL502VS-GZ381 - Review

When we say 'gaming laptop', we usually think of either a bulky and heavy model, able to overcome a powerful desktop system, or a ultra-slim and ultra-expensive ultrabook that delivers performance well above its category.

The ASUS ROG GL502VS-GZ381 is somewhere between these two categories, being a gaming laptop that's easy enough to take with you anywhere, even easier than some business models.

Construction
The laptop is slightly larger than the regular 15.6 inch models due to a more serious integrated cooling solution and its thickness is 30 mm, but it weighs just 2.2 kg, making it one of the lightest in its category. The design is special and its finishes are very well done.

The connectivity chapter does not disappoint, integrating 3 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, headphone jack, Ethernet port and 1 USB 3.1 Type C port. Of course, the Bluetooth version is 4.1 and features 802.11 ac wireless, for high speeds transfer.

Keyboard and touchpad
The illuminated (dark red) keypad has well-spaced buttons and is very comfortable, being quite common for a gaming laptop. The trackpad is generous in size and has a nice touch-sensitive surface, responding accurately to the touch, and the buttons have a fairly high stiffness.

Screen and sound
The screen is one of the strengths of this laptop. It is treated to avoid unpleasant reflections of light that could distract you, has great viewing angles, good contrast, high brightness and superb colors, making it very suitable for games as well as other types of content such as the movies.

The sound offered is clear and powerful enough, but not much over the other gaming laptops like price. Its quality is high enough to watch movies or listen to your favorite tracks without any distortion when playing.

Performances
Performance is another strength. The Kaby Lakei7-7700HQ processor has 4 cores and a normal 2.8 GHz frequency, but thanks to Turbo Boost technology, it can reach up to 3.8 GHz. Also, the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 video card gives us 8GB of video memory. The system thus provides enviable performance when it comes to the latest games on the market.

TitanFall 2, Battlefield 1, Hitman and Just Cause 3 are running well, earning 60 to 90 frames per second. Some resource-intensive games can run at just under 60 FPS when using the highest quality settings, such as Watch Dogs 2 or The Witcher 3, but most likely there is no game in your collection that this laptop does not they can run at very good quality and enough frames per second.

As a result, the ASUS ROG GL502VS-GZ381 is the right model for those who want an attractive, portable game laptop to be picked up anywhere and with high performance regardless of activity.

Alienware 17 (AMD) - review laptop gaming

With a weight of 4.17 kg and a size of 17.9 x 12.9 x 2.26-2.23 inches, Alienware 17 is less portable than competing models.

Display

The 17.3-inch Full HD screen delivers detailed and brilliant images and the text is clearly displayed. The viewing angles are wide. The brightness of 312 lux is above the average of its category, of 249 lux, but also of that of the GT70, of 240 lux.

Audio

The laptop features front-facing Klipsch speakers that deliver powerful, high-quality sound.

Keyboard and touchpad

The large keys provide very good feedback, achieving a score of 60 words per minute during the speed test with a 1 percent error rate.

The 4x2.25 inch touchpad performs multi-touch gestures with ease, and the buttons provide good feedback.

Ports

The right side of the laptop integrates a Blu-ray drive, two USB 3.0 ports, a 9-in-1 card reader, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. On the left are two other USB 3.0 ports, a Mini DisplayPort, a lock slot, headphones and microphone jacks, and a power jack. It also has an HDMI port.

Performance

Like most Alienware laptops, it offers high performance in multitasking. It comes equipped with a 2.4GHz Intel Core i7-4700MQ processor, 16GB RAM, a 750GB HDD and a 256GB SSD. In the PCMark 7 benchmark, which measured total system performance, the laptop achieved a score of 5,405 points, above the average of its category, of 4,729 points.

During the file transfer test, Alienware 17 duplicated 4.97 GB of multimedia files at a transfer rate of 204 MBps, far above the average of 138 MBps.

Autonomy

The Nvidia version of the laptop has a 4 hours and 9 minutes autonomy, while AMD has a 3-hour and 36-minute battery life below the 3-hour and 57-minute average.

Sony VAIO Pro 11 Ultrabook - review laptop business

With the dimensions of 11.2x7.8x0.7 inches and a weight of 0.86 kg, the VAIO Pro 11 is the easiest 11-inch notebook on the market. The Acer Aspire S7-191 has the dimensions of 11.2x7.7x0.5 inches and a weight of 1kg, while the 11-inch Apple MacBook Air weighs 1.08kg and sizes 11.8x7.56x0.11 -0.68 inches.

Display and audio

The VAIO Pro 11 features a 11.6-inch, Full HD TFT screen with Triluminous technology that delivers vibrant colors, but in dark scenes the quality is not as good and the image gets a little dull at high viewing angles . The brightness is 237 lux, over the one recorded by the Aspire S7-191, 147 lux, and the average of the 231 lux category. Asus Taichi 21 has a screen brightness of 239 lux.

The speakers are mounted underneath, they emit a strong and clear sound, but they do not have a lot of bass and are slightly distorted at full volume.
